Mateo has been a student of the Sweet Medicine SunDance path since 1987. She is a Ceremonialist, Instructor, Shamanic Counselor and a Medicine Woman.  Prior to her work in Shamanism, she has a degree in exercise physiology/sports medicine and has taught at the university level, as well as internationally.

Mateo is an avid gardener, a passionate fisherman, a champion archer, and a wilderness explorer. She has a deep love for animals and the natural world.

Being of mixed heritage, Mateo’s personal journey encompasses a variety of cultural and spiritual traditions. Her venture into shamanism began with the teachings of Gurdjieff, then Native American teachers – Wallace Black Elk, Sun Bear, Brooke Medicine Eagle, and Peruvian Shamanism before she found her path with heart ~ the Sweet Medicine SunDance Path.

With nearly 20 years of teaching experience, Mateo brings an enduring relationship with spirit along with steadfast integrity to her work. Her great joy is witnessing the awakening of potential in her students.

Martha has been a student of the Sweet Medicine SunDance Path since 1993. Born with a song in her heart, she is a gifted singer and drummer. Martha is an accomplished ceremonial musician and is the Lodge Drum Chief.

Her other passions in life include gardening, cooking, dancing and being in nature.  A very unique skill set Martha brings to this Lodge is her competency with logistics and organization. She can turn any level of chaos into a gentle flow of efficiency.  She has studied Women’s Mystery schools and Goddess traditions and brings this strong intuitive knowing to her work with sisterhood circles and ceremonies.

Hailing from a large mid-west farming family, Martha is passionate about Rights of Passage for children and is certified to create and lead these ceremonies.  Martha will always greet you with a big smile and a warm welcome.
